Fudgy Amaretto Bars

How is it already April?! Where did January go? Seriously, it’s been crazy, but at least it has been a productive year. I am excited to announce that I have a new featured section coming soon to the blog. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

As you know, I am a lover of almond flavored foods. That is why I’m going to feature two almond recipes in a row. The first one has a burst amaretto flavor. I feel like it has been a little while since I have featured a chocolate recipe. That being said, I have some gooey fudgy bars with a amaretto twist. They have an elegant flavor that pairs well with special occasions. If you’re anything like me, then you won’t need any special occasions to bake up some sweets like this!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Set aside.-122

IMG_3463Line and spray a 9x 13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the melted butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Add the eggs and flavorings. Mix well.


IMG_3465Stir flour and salt together, and gradually add to dough.


IMG_3467Spread into pan and bake for 15–17 min or until top is set and lightly golden along the edges.

IMG_3468Heat 7 ounces of the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips over medium heat.
Once chips are melted remove from heat and stir in remaining sweetened condensed milk, egg, and amaretto flavor oil.


IMG_3472Pour over cookie layer and spread evenly and top with sliced almonds & chopped cherry cordials and continue to bake for 22-25 min or until bars are set.


IMG_3477.jpgAllow bars to cool completely in pan, before attempting to cut (chilling bars will make them easier to cut).
